Berkely Show

We have provided a safety audit service for a couple of years and once again were onsite the day before to view the site and identify and potential hazards that the organisers may not have identified before the show opened the following morning, to allow time for any rectification work to be carried out.

The Show has improved its health and safety commitment over the years and we were pleased to only report a few minor improvements that could be made.

Events like these need to sell space to traders both as an income stream and to offer the visitors opportunities to purchase goods and food. Unfortunately it is these traders that often operate at a level of safety that is below what should be expected, and it is a balance for the organisers to educate them to deliver a safe stand at the show. One main concern, that we see time and time again at many events are gazebo type structures that aren’t suitably anchored down – if at all sometimes. A relatively small gust of wind can lift these structures and throw them into people causing very serious injuries. Any event should have a suitable weather management plan of which wind will play a big part, and a process to ensure that all structures – big or small – are suitable for the forecast weather.

If you have an event that would benefit from our services please do get in touch.
